Company That Throws Great Party...Genentech

At times like now where companies are starting to freeze hiring or laying off (like mine), it's refreshing to see a company willing to spend so much to thank their employees for all their work and to celebrate their 30th anniversary with a HUGE party. Yes, a HUGE party with over 10,000 ppl (6-8K employees and remaining are guests). What was there? How 'bout free food and drinks? Wine? Beer? Oh course!!! They even had treats like churro and cotton candies. And what's a party w/out music? I mean LIVE music. No, I don't mean just any band or D.J.; I mean LIVE band that you and I know. Heard of Foo Fighters? They were up 1st. How 'bout Bob Dylan? His new CD, Modern Times, just came out. He was up 2nd. Nope, then for sure you've heard of the Black Eyed Peas, right? ;) By this time, you can see younger crowds by the stage.Boy, they were good! They can dance (yes, Fergie shake that body of hers like in their MV) and sing. Fergie even sang 'London Bridge' from her new CD, Dutchess. I've never seem any celebrity so up front, ~6 feet away. Overall, ppl were pretty mature, with few exceptions (rude ppl pushing and splashing their drinks). That's not bad consider all the drinking. The party ended w/The Eagles. We left shortly after their 3rd song. Didn't want to hit traffic...LOL...yes, and we don't really listen to The Eagles. A lot of older ppl were crazy about them...

Ahh!!! Just found out from Linda that we should had stayed 'til the end. Foo Fighters were standing in the crowd at the end watching The Eagles. Linda's friend were lucky enough to take pictures with them. Guess the statement, 'Good Things Comes to Those Who Waits', really is true...LOL...

FYI...None of the band or singers received money for their ~45 min. performance. Genentech donated the money on their behalf to the charity of their choice. Two yrs. ago, Elton John's charity received $2M for his performance. Let us thank our Lord for the wonderful things these ppl are doing. Let us pray that it'll continue.
